L’AUTRE — the other concept. The other concept of life.
When you reverse the tray, it’s like changing life by 180°, and every side matters.
My life took a few turns I definitely hadn’t ordered.
New country. New problems. Some friendships that turned out to be less friendly than advertised. And a few people who seemed to think they had the right to decide what kind of person I should be.
Cute idea. Wrong woman.
I didn’t have a five-year plan. I didn’t wake up one morning with a vision board and a perfect business strategy. I had a lot to figure out, a lot to rebuild, and absolutely no interest in becoming someone else’s version of me.
So I started making things.
Candles. Mineral trays. Strange little objects that began as experiments and occasionally turned into something I actually wanted to keep.
I mixed, poured, sanded, ruined things, tried again, and sanded some more. If you’ve ever wondered what stubbornness looks like in physical form, it’s probably me at a table, refusing to throw away a tray that has personally offended me.
At least the room smelled expensive.
Somewhere between the plaster dust and the candle wax, L’AUTRE began to take shape.
Not as a grand plan to conquer the world. Not as a story about finding my purpose. Just as something of my own. Something I could imagine, make, change, and bring into the world with my own two hands.
And that brings me to the trays.
Turn one over and you get a different surface. A different shape. A different way of seeing the same object.
That’s L’AUTRE.
The other side. The unexpected side. The side nobody thought to look at.
Because life can turn you upside down, too. Sometimes you lose the version of yourself you thought you were supposed to be. Sometimes you discover that the other side is actually more interesting.
And sometimes you just need to turn the damn thing over.
I make every piece by hand. I’m still experimenting, still learning, and still building this thing one piece at a time.
No overnight success story. No pretending I’ve got life figured out.
Just me, making things I believe in.
And if you’ve made it this far, welcome to the other side.
